CertifiedITAD is the United States' most comprehensive directory of R2 and e-Stewards certified electronics recyclers and IT asset disposition (ITAD) companies. Our mission is simple: make it easy for businesses, government agencies, and organizations to find and connect with verified, compliant electronics recycling facilities.
Our Mission
Every year, millions of computers, servers, phones, and other electronic devices reach end-of-life in US businesses. Improperly handled, these devices pose serious risks: data breaches from inadequately wiped drives, environmental contamination from toxic materials, and legal liability from non-compliant disposal. CertifiedITAD was created to solve this problem by connecting organizations with pre-vetted, certified recycling partners.
Why Certification Matters
The electronics recycling industry is unregulated in many states, meaning anyone can claim to be a "recycler" without any verification. Certified facilities — those holding R2 (Responsible Recycling) or e-Stewards certifications — have undergone rigorous third-party audits to verify that they:
- Protect sensitive data through certified data destruction processes
- Handle hazardous materials (lead, mercury, cadmium) in compliance with environmental regulations
- Maintain documented chain-of-custody for all equipment
- Vet and manage downstream vendors who receive materials
- Provide certificates of recycling and data destruction
- Maintain worker health and safety standards
Our Data
Our directory is built from publicly available data maintained by the certification bodies themselves — the Sustainable Electronics Recycling International (SERI) for R2 certified facilities, and the Basel Action Network (BAN) for e-Stewards certified facilities. We aggregate, clean, and present this data in a searchable, user-friendly format to make it easier for procurement teams, sustainability officers, and IT managers to find certified partners.
